European champion and SGP 2022 star Mikkel Michelsen is set for an early FIM Speedway Grand Prix return as wild card for the Danish FIM Speedway Grand Prix sponsored by Ecco at Vojens on September 11.
Michelsen dons the No.16 race jacket at Denmark's national speedway stadium as he bids to give fans a taste of what they can expect next season.
The 27-year-old became the first rider to book his place in the 2022 SGP World Championship after lifting his second Speedway European Championship in three years in Rybnik on July 10.
The Lublin and Slangerup rider has been in sensational form this season and is currently eighth in Poland's PGE Ekstraliga average charts on 2.108 points per race "“ his best-ever league season.
Michelsen was a full-time member of the SGP 2020 series, earning a late call-up following Greg Hancock's retirement and a hip injury for the Californian's replacement Martin Smolinski.
The Rybnik-based rider finished 14th in last year's SGP World Championship, but will be keen to capitalise on that experience and build on his current form as he returns for SGP 2022.
Michelsen is joined in the Danish SGP by track reserves Mads Hansen and Jonas Seifert-Salk, who line up at No.17 and No.18 respectively.
